There are also sustainable alternatives in the paper/cardboard sector. Compostable paper, e.g. glassine paper, is often used as packaging in the food industry. Glassine paper is made from pure cellulose and is therefore 100% recyclable and compostable. In addition, glassine paper is free of chlorine and acid and very tear-resistant. Recyclable packaging made from 100% waste paper is also environmentally friendly. Chemicals are prohibited in the manufacture of packaging made from 100% recycled paper. The packaging made from waste paper can be recognized by the blue angel, which is an environmental label for particularly environmentally friendly products and services.
